Consultant Profile - Walter Hill, CISSP
Walter Hill is a Senior Security Engineer and Consultant with more than 25 years in the computer industry. He has experience as a software developer, database administrator, systems administrator, firewall administrator, instructor and security technologist.
Walter's background includes four years as a consultant for the Internet Penetration Team of Canaudit, Inc. and more than 20 years of computer technology related employment with SBC Communications.
At Canaudit, Walter provided computer security services (audits, training, consulting) for companies in United States, Europe and the Middle East. His specialty was performing Internet Penetration assessments.
Among Walter's numerous roles at SBC, he served as a firewall administrator and computer security technologist in the Corporate Information Security group. This included responsibility for the firewalls at SBC's Internet, Extranet, and Special-Network facilities.
His experiences include building, installing and managing firewall systems, developing tools for firewall log analysis, building router access lists, trouble-shooting network problems, implementing VPN solutions using IPSec, and designing secure Extranet and Internet complexes. In the software development area, he has built and ported network based security tools, including porting the SecurID client to several platforms, modifying firewall proxy software to work with SecurID authentication, and development of a tool to remotely manage firewall rules with integrity and accountability.
